Overall, the game frustrated the absolute fucking hell out of me, since I was slowly adapting to the new mechanics. The tutorial boss was incredibly evident of how the game was going to play out. One thing I heavily dislike about the game is how localized it is. There are only small sections that arent linked up, forcing you to use the fast travel system immediately, taking away from a lot of the awe of exploring Lordran. Not only that, bonfires themselves seem trivialized, with me finding one every few feet or a shortcut back to one I had just lit. It takes away from a lot of the tension and it seems like they supplemented that by just making the bosses/enemies more unpredictable. This is not me saying Dark Souls is a perfect game nor Dark Souls III is a bad game, but me saying that they removed the one thing that pulled me so hard into the original. You just named the two things about the game that disappointed me the most. In the end though ds3 is my favorite one in the series because although exploration is less meaningful the combat is very fun and varied, plus knowing the world well allows you to " " " sequence break " " " in a few places and ways that tie into pvp in a really cool way. Hopefully you'll learn to love it like I did and have a second online/embered playthough. It really puts everything into a completely new perspective.
