idk I think they just wanted to diversify the charities they support? so they took the Red Cross I think last time, but people were complaining bc it's not as savory as the Prevent Cancer (Red Cross has been involved in some shady stuff I think)
there was also the problem that the Prevent Cancer acts only on US soil afaik, and people were complaining about donating to a charity that favours only a single country. the counterpoint is that the research coming out of Prevent Cancer helps everyone so idk
