I finally got my build to where it comfortably needs to be. I am doing a STRENGTH build again and I am using the great machete. Overall, the game frustrated the absolute fucking hell out of me, since I was slowly adapting to the new mechanics. The tutorial boss was incredibly evident of how the game was going to play out. One thing I heavily dislike about the game is how localized it is. There are only small sections that arent linked up, forcing you to use the fast travel system immediately, taking away from a lot of the awe of exploring Lordran. Not only that, bonfires themselves seem trivialized, with me finding one every few feet or a shortcut back to one I had just lit. It takes away from a lot of the tension and it seems like they supplemented that by just making the bosses/enemies more unpredictable. This is not me saying Dark Souls is a perfect game nor Dark Souls III is a bad game, but me saying that they removed the one thing that pulled me so hard into the original.

I like young link and ness a lot. Chrom is disgusting but I don't really like playing as the fire emblem characters. I also like Jigglypuff

You just named the two things about the game that disappointed me the most. In the end though ds3 is my favorite one in the series because although exploration is less meaningful the combat is very fun and varied, plus knowing the world well allows you to " " " sequence break " " " in a few places and ways that tie into pvp in a really cool way. Hopefully you'll learn to love it like I did and have a second online/embered playthough. It really puts everything into a completely new perspective.

Oh, like I said, I am not saying it's a bad game. I have 33 hours in it and I am on the Dancer right now. My skill is at the point where I first tried Pontiff, a boss everyone apparently has trouble with (and I could see why, jesus fucking christ my heart was pounding out of my chest after it was over). To put this in perspective, the Crystal Sage took me 22 times to beat. Also what the fuck was that bullshit, having to fight Aldrich twice. If I didn't beat him on my first try, the second fight, I would have been livid.

Curse-Rotted Greatwood was the first boss that made me think "uhhh, am I supposed to fight this yet?" Crystal Sage was fucking stupid and so far was the hardest boss fight for me. Did not expect an Artorias type (Abyss Watchers) so early in the game, that was mighty intimidating and was the only one (sans Aldrich, but does this count?) that I used an NPC summon for so far. I was not expecting half the shit the Deacons threw at me, I ended up using all 11 +6 estus flasks plus an ember on this boss (Yes, I had trouble on this games equivalent to pinwheel). For some reason Wolnir couldn't hit me when I was backed up all the way to the end of the arena? Old Demon King was a boss I fought twice already but buff. Pontiff was fucking INSANE and I am SO glad I didn't have to deal with that more than once, that shadow was fucking crazy. Yhorm went from "what in the FUCK am I dealing with here" to "OH, right, it's one of THESE bosses" real quick. Aldrich gave me some fucking trouble, took me at least 12-13 tries. Then I found out that fighting him with Anri wasn't the actual boss battle. I was so pissed that I first tried him by myself.
The Dancer so far is what the Pontiff fight should have been for me.

after finishing off the game, I am coming back to finish off my critique on the bosses (in the order I fought them)
The Dancer gave me the most trouble I think of every boss, the amount of fights I had against it was insane. I managed to be her minutes before 2019, was so satisfying. The first phase was difficult, but manageable sans the grabs that seem to defy reality. The second phase is what killed me the most though. It was all just too fast for me.
Dragonslayer Armour was fun but the butterflies that start assisting ruined the fight for me.
Oceiros, the Consumed King was a joke but had a really interesting fight. When I started reading more into dark souls lore, learning more about Oceiros makes this fight even more interesting to me.
Champion Gundyr was a boring callback
Ancient Wyvern was fucking awful. Worst boss in both games I have played so far.
King of the Storm was intimidating at first, but once I realized it was just in the way of the actual fight, it became more of an annoyance than an actual fight because of how easy I can kill the dragon in such a short amount of time.
Nameless King on the other hand, was incredibly fun. It was nothing like the Lothric Princes or The Dancer. In this case, I feel all his moves were telegraphed fairly and they connected like they should have (dancer grab)
Lothric Princes were a nightmare. Not just the fight, but the annoying taunt after every. fucking. death. I eventually got the hang of it, but this had to be the second most difficult fight in the game for me. That teleport was a nightmare for me to get the hang of, god I will be having flashbacks of that taunt.
Soul of Cinder was a weird fight for me. I expected something more from this but it was a bit underwhelming. The first half of the fight felt different every time I went into it, which was...strange to say the least. But I felt like when I died a bit too much, when I went in the game just kinda said "oh, well, I guess we'll just keep spamming magic". This happened the next couple of tries until I beat it, it was baffling and I didn't feel like I learned anything.
Also fuck the DLC I am not doing that shit, it can fuck right the hell off

i ALWAYS summon for the dancer lol the tracking on that impaling move is insane
lothric princes have always been easy for me for some reason and they’re how i farm sunlight medals lol. soul of cinder is best if you’ve played all the games before it imo. it’s supposed to be gwyn the 3 player characters and some other stuff
