Call of Pripyat is more straightforward but it's my favorite of the three (unmodded)

Clear Skies is ok, it's the weakest of the three but still good, the environments are lackluster compared to the other two games.

do u actually? i feel like 2 was the high point of the series and 1 is so poorly optimized that when i played it on a console for the first time as opposed to on pc like usual it felt like pulling teeth

a lot of ppl i know prefer mass effect 1 but i agree with you, mass effect 1 was AMAZING the first time i played it but after playing mass effect 2 and 3 i literally can't play through 1 again, the combat feels so weird and clunky. like it was a cool unique system at the time but i don't think it aged well, especially after having played the later games with improved systems.

it's like the witcher 1, i thought its combat system was fucking awesome when i first played it, it was unique and more engaging than just mashing your mouse button repeatedly to kill an enemy but then the witcher 2 came out and i was like oh okay i guess this game is just better with a more standard combat system.

i have the fancy lookin mass effect set for ps3

i never beat 1 but i enjoyed it, i feel the same as niki in that the menus on the console (your inventory filling with gun mods and it taking a few seconds to dump each and every one) are a chore. but i enjoy the story and the originality a lot so i want to finish 1 before i move onto the others

i really highly recommend playing the mass effect games on pc the controls feel way more natural

also same tempest when i wanna replay the series i just use a save creator bc like... fuck man it's so hard to get through
