I think I talked to Ben once about how I believe that collectivism/individualism is in many cases a false dychotomy. As is authoritarian/libertarian. These kinds of tests are fun to take but I can't be serious about them because of this reason. Ghandi as a "libertarian leftist"? Maybe in some aspects, definitely not in others. Thatcher can only be considered an authoritarian right...ist under some of her policies - much of what she stood for implied deregulation, which is libertarian in principle.
So are we analysing intent or consequence? I would argue that economic libertarianism has implied authoritarian consequences. So does a lot of the libertarian socialism that people parade around nowadays. Under the same token, a lot of authoritarian socialism - including, for example, the nationalization of healthcare and education - has the intent of libertarian consequence (meaning, it is meant to free rather than restrict). So again, where would you place these? Maybe the results are all so similar because we're operating under the assumption that the mental frame through which we approach a problem is the same. Sometimes prohibitionists mean to free; sometimes libertarians mean to control.
you are correct daniel we may as well go big or go home, as they say
