This is an odd AMA (by Simpsons director)

As usual, the redditors churn out the Simpsons references (e.g. Itchy and Scratchy's magic xylophone), but he (if it is him?) doesn't remember those refrences (including one he brought up himself) and answers the questions seriously.  It's made a few redditors salty and it's pretty funny in a way; I don't know if he's doing it on purpose or not, what do you guys think

It's really weird. I don't think it's him. Unless he doesn't care enough about his work to recall specifics. Kinda like an actor never watching any of the movies they're in, I guess? Although as the director you're involved in the entire process, and he's been with the show since season 2.

I don't know. His answers are just plain shitty is the simplest reason.

I forgot about arguments that I put into paper on an academic level. it's absolutely likely that he doesn't remember details of particular Simpsons episodes, when you do intensive work like that you just tend to focus on the task at hand and move on once it's done.

also the Itchy and Scratchy thing:

"There was an episode at a comic con style convention or something with an itchy and scratchy producer or artist who was fielding questions. A nerdy convention goer stands up and asks OPs question."
