white men feel a greater sense of entitlement to women’s bodies because they are punished much less harshly than black and brown men if and when they are caught. people will make excuses for white men much more frequently than other men, while black and brown men often have literal lynch mobs formed at even a false accusation (Emmett till for example) because there is to this day a narrative among white supremacists of “theyre raping our women”, which they use to deflect from the fact that they too are raping women. anyway i think that gender is the main determining factor here and not so much race but it’s kind of silly to pretend that white men aren’t more protected by society when they commit sexual assault than black and brown men

Topic: so, considering all of this, what would be effective measures to counteract future incidences of sexual harassment? Scandals like these aren't new to entertainment and they usually blow over.

I don't really know but I imagine that this would be a great oportunity to push for research-based state mechanisms for sexual harassment/assault claims in the workplace (afaik these are nowadays only handled by local HR). A bit like ~name evades me, copyright claim institution in the US, probably a bad example~ but with specific built-in research-based mechanisms for establishing proof and validating claims.
