if you think that trump is incompetent, a liar, a bad person and that he's ALSO going to be able to fulfill his most evil promises- i am skeptical. things will blow over very soon, there will be minor issues and complaints, people will find convenience with the ripples of his decisions but also inconvenience. i predict it will be bad, because he is bad, but people treating this like its 9.5/11 need to grow up and actually do something

we do not live in a monarchy. i am in a way pleased that the clinton Divine Right was not upheld, though obviously theres a million ways to fight that without electing scrooge mcduck into office. i think if there's anything to be said of trump's strength that helped him here, it's that he's at least sincerely a clown. hillary looks like she is made of polystyrene and speaks like CandidateBot- she had to PAY for her memes. the memes flowed evenly through trump. i am glad that we prioritize the sincerity, though again, someone like bernie was more sincere and also sane, competent, loving, considerate, etc. same with gary, but thats a different issue

people call for better parties, or better election systems- these are good suggestions, but dont forget that there is no reason the OTHER powers need to fall to the knees of the executive. people pump up this popularity contest, and pour their love for these figures, without realizing that every power and precedent you give someone decent like obama is also inherited by someone like trump

i wrote in ross perot because alaska has probably one of the lowest voter turn out percentages in the nation and our popular vote wouldn't matter anyway because alaska hasn't used their electoral votes for a democratic candidate since 1964, but i'm shocked more people are worried about trump as president than they are that the congress is fully republican controlled while he's the president.

he's not gonna do any of the dumb shit he talked about, or even try, unless possibly he goes to a second term. he's not an idiot, he's a businessman, and he knows that he couldn't get away with half that shit, even with a republican congress on the books. the real issue is the sneakier shit that a republican congress is going to push through, shit that trump will undoubtedly sign off on because he either hasn't read it or just doesn't really care and wants to keep in good graces so he doesn't risk impeachment.

Anyway yeah, I get it. I stand by what I said - this is absurd and farcical, there's no way Trump would win vs CandidateBot, not Trump, but he did because of reasons. People want to escape her, I get it, but you're running outside in the pouring rain to avoid taking a shower, and you're happy about it because the rain was your own choice.

Facing these elections I stand by my belief that it was either Clinton or not voting /null vote. I would do the second because fuck Hillary. People wanna go out with a bang... ok, I get it, I just think it's stupid to do so and now you'll put up with an absolute twat on the wheel for the next four years. Whatever. I remember the Bush years, we (the rest of the world) will just wait it out while making fun of dumb americans.

yes, the best thing you can do is get the ball rolling with gary or jill or harambe or whoever. if they hit 5% of the vote (nobody did), you get some special considerations moving forward and even though it would be silly to think theyd win, youd be doing a good service for the future of the country

unfortunately, gary was top and he hit something like 3%. i feel strongly it could have been higher, but there was sincere fear in people about the election (on both sides) and so people, being their lesser selves, voted against their worst nightmare rather than with their heart
