independent reporters have confirmed the humans rights abuses and wanton poverty. unless you believe everyone is in on the conspiracy, you can't deny the information that we have. it's not the case of localized abuses in a country where the majority is living a happy, healthy life. it's widespread misery in a country ruled by a brutal pseudo-stalinist core that operates through censorship and violence.

I get that there's a relativism to all of this but there's a line to be drawn somewhere and I guess this is mine

Edit: and yes the US isn't innocent in driving the country into the state that it is right now. but that can't be the end of the conversation, imo. brutal regimes are brutal regimes, even if they arose with the help or as a consequence of someone else's imperialism
