no, though i do think that argument is sometimes valid its not what im saying here at all

my point is that if you shouldnt have a weapon but the idiot in charge of checking you out doesnt follow the rules or does a bad job, then you can walk home with a legally registered weapon. if you use that weapon to do something bad, it's said that you "legally obtained" it and people riot for more laws to stop this from happening, which is missing the point in the first place. you obtained the gun in bad faith, you won because the system failed to tell you that you lost

its your second statement, that the law is adequate but its application is not. kneejerk people who want more laws (that we wont enforce) are misinterpreting the issue here which is my problem
