yes but religious thought promotes faith (belief with a lack of evidence) whereas scientific thought promotes the opposite. therefore, if you are scamming people by saying "nah man just believe me it works" through science, i can say "well tell me how you can prove this works" and the wont be able to. it has an error-correcting mechanism built in

whereas if someone religious says something completely nutty and you go "ok prove it" they can just respond "oh well i take it on faith, i have the hope its true, i can feel god in me so it must be true" or something completely independent and without reason
