to be honest I'm way more invested in what's happening in Brazil

Edit: this was kind of derailing so I'll clarify

the US elections are surely important because the figurehead in america tends to operate under a certain political aesthetic - Obama, Bush and Clinton (speaking of presidencies I was conscious about) each stand more for a way of running things than an actual politicla agenda, the way things seem to work over there

it's fine and interesting and for me the aesthetic of an old jewish social-democrat affects very relevantly american foreign relations in contrast to an angry golden cradle idiot with a bad hairstyle. "Bush" america was very different from "Obama" america and that is what is important to me here

but in terms of structural effects, the current impeachment of Brazil's president and the massive curruption breakdown undergoing there - with dangerous implications on all accounts, from military dictatorship supporters to cartel-financed moguls and a rising strife nationwide - could have brutal implications for the world economy (Brazil is stupid rich and influential)

and siding next to that, american political aesthetics kinda pale in relevance to me

in my mind it means more due to how iconic the figurehead of the united states is vs brazil- i happen to know a little bit about the brazil thing because i check up on world news superficially, but EVERYONE knows about donny trump and has their own take or story

well actually- the most salient thing to me is the history of the US vs brazil. the US doesn't really have many major disruptions or incidents compared to a lot of south american countries (i had an extensive course on this in high school but the information is leaving me so forgive inaccuracy) where there is a constant cycle of military dictatorships and people's republics (as i think was the case with chile, cuba, and brazil) and also some power changing among family (mexico and argentina?). in the US, presidents will sometimes get shot but otherwise remain. the only exception was nixon who resigned and almost bill i guess

contention with the president breeds interesting drama considering they are not only the symbol of the country but they are carrying the flag for their party. who carries the flag and where is interesting to me due to the US' comparative stability- that someone is being taken out again in south america is more extreme than what trump or bernie are doing, but it is comparatively normal
