im very interested in the logistics of the current election and very uninterested in the individual politics. the general movement of the republican party and the banality and "safety" of the democrats is interesting. i like to scoff at the two party system, but the fact remains that as long as those parties are the biggest they will remain the most active and defining in our time
that being said, looking at someone like mr. sanders makes it more interesting considering how very close he is (not that i believe even for a minute that he will win the nomination) despite his outspoken and obvious proclivities (he's an old jewish socialist). again, i dont care about the reality, history, or practicality of his actual political policies and only find him interesting as a character in this arena
it is interesting that trump, a character himself, succeeds where sanders does not. why is this? is it because of trump's opportunism in the face of a dying party, or is it something dark in the hearts of his supporters? how do you define the trump voterbase- are they the once-silent majority or are they a vocal minority that happens to be more vocal than the others?
do you know any unironic trump supporters? what kind of people are they in the context of the election process? have they voted before? have they felt cheated before? would they have continued in the process if trump were to have left in the beginning?
