oddly, i also have high blood pressure and dealt with parental health issues. my beloved mom died a year and a half ago from congestive heart failure, and now my father has brain cancer and is on borrowed time. Him and i have a very checkered past, so I'm tryna get back to nj ASAP to reconcile with him (im his only son) and help him with his final weeks/months. dude is 72, he had a good run for someone with a formerly reckless lifestyle
Congrats on the daughter! I'm someone's father too, my little fucker is gonna be 17 in October. He's taller than me (an easy feat at 5'5") and has more facial hair, and he's super smart and well-adjusted. Incredible musician, light years ahead of me, makes me so proud. I always gave him lots of love and fed his ambitions, taught him manners at a very early age. You'll do fine brother, raising a child is a mysterious journey but if you give them enough love, attention and space it will all work out.
Best of luck to you Rob, I really mean that.
I'm sorry about your parental situation man. My mom was only 49 when she had a sudden heart attack, and it is really tough to see my dad the way he is these days.
I am so sorry about your father, I cannot imagine what he is going through. I had a checkered past with my mom, my only solace is that we reconciled somewhat before she passed, and she was able to at least see my daughter a tiny bit before that time as well.
My advice to you is to reconcile to the best of your abilities with your father. I look back with great sorrow over the countless times I had major or minor transgressions with my mother. Even small things like not picking up the phone because at the time I felt annoyance just talking to her.
K-man I really hope things pick up for you too bro, if you're ever in the northern California area hit me up.
