I'm not a social expert but I wouldn't go anywhere with the specific purpose of meeting people. instead, I'd go somewhere because I like that thing, and people will be in your life naturally. ie if the church is of interest to you, that's fine, but if you're just there to make friends then... I mean, you're not interested in the same things those people are, what kind of friends do you expect to make
it's a non-denominational church and I played D&D with the pastor, it's really far away which is why I haven't gone
