I saw another cool but infinitely less awesome and problem-solving invention yesterday. it's like a little one foot long sucky vaccum thing you have built onto the baseboards or under your kitchen cabinets so you can sweep stuff into the little hole, and it's got a lil vaccum bag. hallelujah, no more scooting back dustpans for 3 miles until every dust particle is picked up. was just one of those things that makes so much sense for people with hardwood floors and what not.

it shouldnt be very different from going through an underpass, but still in the video they have screens under the train emulating blue sky i guess to lower the shock effect idk

oh cool that doesn't sound bad. unfortunately it's not gonna mesh with certain cities existing infrastructure like detroit is built to allow almost No public transportation

yeah that's a good point. utah has those trams grue was showing, but they were installed when salt lake city hosted the olympics and it cost a good chunk of money I think. as far as traffic goes though it was smooth and you'd get everywhere 10x faster than driving. wish they had them here actually.

whats the advantage to this over a subway or skytrain system? It seems it's just another transit system akin to those that doesn't really replace the bus that can stop every few hundred meters.

the advantage of it over normal busses is obvious, have you ever driven behind a bus? it's awful. not every city can support a subway system, especially not states built on fuckin swamps like Michigan and maybe florida? they might have subways. idk. but like i said before there's still an issue where existing infrastructure just plain won't support it and cities than can't afford to radically alter their infrastructure (both for Detroit for example) so it doesn't really. solve very many problems i think

oooh ok that sounds neat, how exactly are they built? do they just follow the roads? detroit has the people mover which is a pretty decent monorail but it goes mostly to entertainment things (the joe louis arena, greektown casino, etc) so it's not very efficient for people using it for work or anything like that especially with no connection to the metro areas. but w a decent level of stops in a decently designed city it sounds pretty feasible then 

i am aware i keep comparing everything to detroit but it's where i kno best so o well (poop emoji)

yeah other tall vehicles are also a problem, that's my main gripe

like if your van or truck is over 2m tall maybe it needs to have a sign saying that it is taller and then traffic just flows regularly (truck either behind or ahead the bus)

as for why it's better than subways, maybe it won't replace already existing subway routes but when you need to draw new routes, it's much cheaper and ecologically efficient
