well to be frank everything else seems to completely suck. and I don't know what subgenre of metal that would be but I like that and I want more stuff that sounds similar.

that's folk metal. they often have gimmicky fun rhythms and that viking-brethren comeradery. also drinking songs which are as lowest common denominator party metal as real metal gets

In folk metal I listen to a bit of amon amarth and alestorm so i reccomend them i guess. Moonsorrow is a big band but other big folk bands are of the top of my head... TYR, Ensiferum

Actually I like Bathory and Primordial most of all but they are more serious "viking metal" bands and not the flutey gimmicky cheery sort like those mentioned above
