Dark Souls 2 really put me through the grinder just recently. Mainly the DLC which is miles beyond the base game. Had to throw myself at a couple of the bosses a dozen times. That dark bitch before Sinh was a toughy, I think the game eventually took pity on me and gave me the weak adds: Instead of the skeltals or motherfucking Velstad she summoned the Majula pigs which makes it piss. Soot Knight and Aava were also testing. As a caster I was hopeless at Sir Alonne until I just stayed on my a shortsword and rekdim
I play FTL which some people think is hard. It's a roguelike apparently but I don't know what Rogue is that that title refers to. I beat easy after just a few games but I'll still lose sometimes, it's all luck and weird strategy
Rogue is an old game kind of like nethack: it was a pure text interface and you roamed around a dungeon killing stuff. loot, floors and enemies were randomized, and when you died you lost everything. roguelike generally refers to any game where you start over from the beginning when you die. a lot of people are offended if you call FTL or binding of isaac this because OPINIONS so they also call those rogue-lites sometimes. idk it's all stupid.
i've been playing enter the gungeon which is a tough little rogueLIKE!!!!! where you get guns as loot and use it to kill dudes
i've played all the dark souls & bloodborne, some people consider monster hunter hard (at least the higher rank stuff) games like bayonetta and wonderful 101 can be difficult if you're going for perfect score trophies
hearts of iron 3
the difficulty lies on the fact that you will have no clue what the fuck you are doing for a very long time
I would say Red Orchestra (any of them) just because of the steep learning curve. It's a first person shooter that focuses heavily on the "realistic factor".
Bullets whizzing by you cause your moral meter to drop, causing everything to look black/white and blurry. Getting shot in the legs renders you unable to sprint. You have to bandage yourself if you get hit by anything. You only have two roll of bandages on you. Unless you get hit in a miracle location, you will probably die instantly. Bullet drop exists. Weapon/Class roles are limited and play an important role (Commander has a time limit every time he wants to either: lay down artillery, call in recon or force respawn everyone who is dead. Squad Leader who marks locations on the map for the Commander to target with artillery, has smoke grenades for cover and anyone in his squad spawns to them. Then there is Assault role with the submachine gun, the engineer with the Anti-Tank grenades and satchel charges, the Anti-Tank rifle guy, the Machine gunner and the Rifleman.) Every map is essentially attack/defend. There are usually 8 locations that the attackers have to take from the defenders. There is a time limit and both teams have a limit to how many times the players on the team can spawn. Depending on the map, there is mechanized vehicles and tanks. Once you get past the insane learning curve, it's a really fun WWII shooter that only takes place in Stalingrad or The Pacific. They're releasing a Vietnam one that I am anticipating in the near future.
oh also i played some Rust which is one of those 'the game is hard because there are important, intricate game mechanics that you're only going to learn if you fuck up once or google it because fuck you lol' games

I remember being Germany my first time when I picked up Hearts of Iron 2. I lost WWII to Poland.
itt diehard is the worst hitler
this was before I knew anything about history and didn't know when WWII started
I had no troops stationed on the polish border, by the time the war started it was already over.
so, would you say... you forgot poland?
how could I forget that fat polish sausage ramming through my brandenburg gate
not that kind of ''hard'' games u misunderstood
nd no,,,,having permadeath nd random genaretion in ur game doesnt mean its a roguelike !! whats the point to have a genre name if it doesnt mean nething about the game other then that
i beat all of F-Zero GX on master difficulty, which is regarded as being the hardest in the series and one of the hardest racing games
