RULE #1: THERE ARE NO RULES EXCEPT RULE #2
RULE #2: THERE IS ONLY ONE RULE: RULE #3
RULE #3: please visit https://www.spamerica.net/tournament/ and read the intro + rules and guidelines to understand what this is and how it works. for a basic summary, see below:

1. you submit your character. this character has to be your own, as drawn by you, and should include a short description. you have until may 31st to do this
2. once submissions close, all entrants will be seeded into pairs on a tournament bracket. size will be determined by player interest
3. a thread will be made for you and your opponent to exchange comics. this will happen on june 1st, 2019
4. the players in a match will choose who goes first, then they have 3-5 days to do so. other player has 3-5 days to respond. first player has two days to respond. second player has two days to finish the match
5. voting will go up for 2+ days after a match ends. once all matches have ended and all polls are closed, a new round begins (see: points 3 - 5)
6. a winner will be decided and crowned GENDER-NONSPECIFIC-ROYALTY OF COMIC TOURNAMENT 2019

explosm/spame had a lot of... unique...... traditions/customs/fixtures. they made us laugh, they made us cry, they even made us wonder what matt melvin listens to on the toilet

sometimes, they were even pretty cool and constructive. i think the comic tournament was one of those things. going back through the old threads to pull the previous tournament content made me realize how bizarrely try-hard we really were (every comic was trailed by 10 pretentiously-articulated guffaws) and it made me expect that the comic tourney rounds would actually be pretty lame and disappointing

but i was wrong! i was impressed by a lot of the comic submissions even if they werent har-har-worthy, but some of them really made me laugh (even unironically). you should maybe brace yourself for usage of "gay" and "faggot" that would even make ARK blush
