There's a gray area of indefinition between what is acceptable posting in this subforum and what is not. I'm supposed to enforce that. Yet, along they way a lot of my thinking when moderating posts here is lost, so I'm writing this to clarify the general guidelines of what I do.
The fundamental principle behind the threads in the NSZ is that they must follow a path. The path originates in the original discussion proposed by the thread creator, and goes wherever it goes, and I'll leave threads alone so far as there's the palest internal consistency.
So to be precise: I'll delete shitposts, obtuse thread derails, lame attempts at jokes and every third kingtide post. That is, things that interfere with whatever discussion people are having. Things that are onstensibly unrelated, or that don't show some sort of concern for the thread.
That's the general rule: stay on topic. I don't mean it like a sort of draconian rule, take it more as a rule of thumb: if what you mean to add to the thread is kind of unrelated but an interesting discussion in itself, consider making a new thread about it. It keeps the NSZ active and the different discussions uncluttered.
Otherwise, this will be just B2B 2.0, and there's no point in having two similar subforums.
I will try to moderate threads to the best of my ability by merging multiposts and deleting shit posts. Some threads that you buttwipes make irredeemable I will flat out remove from the NSZ, but that's only happened one or two times. Overall I feel like you guys get the general "spirit" of the NSZ, but every once in a while perfectly good threads just go downhill for no particular reason.
Also, try to gauge the seriousness of the thread, ok? I won't do much in the "post ur pic" thread because it's obviously lighthearted and all about the circlejerk. But if you start posting one-word snark replies to, say, diehard's Syria Clusterfuck thread, which is clearly a syrious thread, I will delete your comments.
I've been considering creating a Hall of Fame for shitposts but I'm afraid that niki yelling at things and risbolla's page sniping probably don't make for entertaining content.
