good idea. i accidentally used roasted cashews in place of raw cashews for a sauce and it threw off the texture a little bit because they don’t blend the same !

I once checked a recipe book to see how much water lentils need to cook in properly which is already kind of dumb because I've been cooking lentils since before i was born. The digital scale I was using was on two of it's legs and kept showing lesa weight than was on it which I somehow didn't realize until I poured like a liter of water into my pan

just a couple weeks ago my roommate got chorizo, but like in a tube

i cut it and pressed them into little patties and put them in a pan of hot olive oil

those mf'ers totally liquified into a runny paste, not at all what i was going for lol!

making a lasagne a few weeks ago, i'd been shopping the previous day, bought all the stuff i needed, stood there happily cooking away.

go to start putting everything in the dish only to find that i only had one sheet of pasta left in the box.

could have sworn i had another box, but no, had to run to the shops round the corner in the fucking rain to get some.

speaking of the cashews i once tried to cook a soup with broccoli but i was sick and extremely tired and accidentally put the broccoli in like, 10 minutes before i was supposed to and we just started that one over

my friend and i were literally just now speaking about overcooked vegetables, particularly finessing spinach while sauteing it in garlic... every second counts yknow

i love spinach but i hate buying it because it’s impossible to buy a reasonable amount of it at once and goes bad in like three days

i made these peppermint bars that were essentially sugar cookies except you dyed each a different color, layered them, then cut them into cookie shapes and once baked theyd fluff up and come out stripey

except once i cut and placed each on the sheet, i put them the wrong side down. like, i had them on their side so when they baked gravity didnt work right and they turned into burned, hardened sticks

i noticed before it was way too late and ended up with like 5 normal ones and they were good at least

baking is kinda tough just in general for me for some reason. really weird because my dads parents owned a bakery and he tried to teach me and i can cook well i just can’t bake worth anything

cooking is p much part chemistry, and moreso for baking

shit like every beat of the whisk counts, and proofing oof thats a whole nother bag of bullshit right there
