Back to the point, it's baffling how conspiratorial liberals are getting over the report. Trump is currently under investigation on 12(?) criminal cases already. You shouldn't need a collusion report to take him down.

But that's the thing, isn't it? Sterile, boring, bootlicking centrists in the Democratic Party can't fight Trump for shit. We see with these new progressives in the Democratic Party that all it takes is some ~radical~ idea like idk "don't fucken destroy the planet you live in" to stir the sleeping beehive. They needed this collusion accusation to stick, because they have nothing else to bring Trump down.

It's pathetic. You have a literal child at the helm and noone knows what to do. This guy got a man clearly unfit for duty into the Supreme Court. He is arresting children at the border, many of whom are now missing with some very serious accusations of child traffic. He's tanking all international policy and openly going against the vast majority of americans in base policy issues. Don't get me started on his international policy either.

But Dems can't touch him. They have to find some crime in his life to bring him down, because they can't do it over his disastrous policy. And deep down, we all know why: they are not that much different. They just fucking aren't. Sure, they'll make health insurance a little cheaper and call it universal coverage, or they'll push for the first transgender ICE agent and call it a win for equality. Or they'll pull a Kamala and send cops to threaten black parents into getting their kids to go to school, and brag about it.

But they offer nothing of substantive value. I don't mean like Full Automated Gay Communism but at least some semblance of reasonable policy would be... nice?

I subscribed to the idea that Trump's victory would be good in the sense that it would force the left to get its shit together. It's true that some lefty-er voices have gained popularity in recent times, as have their ideas. But I now understand that the biggest problem in America is the Democratic Party. My take is that people like AOC, Ro Khanna, Ilhan Omar or even ol' Bernie should defect and form their own party to take down the Dems. As it is, it's unsustainable.

your takeaway of wanting those folks to form a new party is funny because i think that's what happened to the republicans in response to the tea party... and i dont think itll actually solve anything, here. just make it worse

those folks you mentioned are ALSO demagogues that promise "really super duper cool stuff, totes" with little legitimacy. the kinds of people that do know how to make things happen (regardless of the strength of their policy beliefs or ethics) are people like pelosi and mcconnell, who are super good at the actual effective politics. i think we need more of those people who have learned these lessons but without having to sell their souls to the devil (soros, koch, bilderburg group, xenu) and can stand up and fight, not just push the blame onto others

this hits on a bigger issue that i think crops of constantly of individual responsibility- we've all abdicated it. we could shut facebook down tomorrow if we all stopped going there, but we know deep down that nobody ELSE would do it with us so why should we bother trying. instead lets get big daddy government in to do the dirty work for us, right? i know this implies some slip into arachnocapitalist weird bitcoin libertarian pot smoking nutjob territory but i dont think we HAVE to take it there. i think its about time we all stop being cynical about how shitty everyone else is, stop assuming the worst of everything everyone's ever said, and actually do stuff

why fight all the little battles the right way when we get put all our eggs in the mueller basket? why actually hash out policy when we can stand behind people like AOC and call it a day? sure, the machine sucks, but if i just say that it sucks and keep feeding it i will rest easy knowing im part of the #resistance

hm

you're contradicting yourself? "we need the people who are already part of the system" vs "why trust big daddy government"

I don't claim that Pelosi & Co are incompetent in the sense that they don't understand how government works. it's not a matter of technical competence because even a fascist can be "competent" on this lens. I do say they are buffoons in the sense that they've been in ~the system~ for way too long to not understand that they are at least indirectly responsible for the current trumpism. I'm saying that they don't stray very far to the left of him. that they stood benefitting from the same system that is now protecting him for many years. they had all this time to put comprehensive policy into work and they simply didn't.

oh, suddenly healthcare is important? I don't believe so, it's not a new issue. In fact the only reason why things like healrthcare, climate change etc are being - very reluctantly - being supported by a lot of dems is exactly that these people that you think are incompetent demagogues have brought it to the center stage and made them unavoidable. also unavoidable is that rather than look into these very popular policies, and employing those Very Competent Totally Not Demagogues to the fray about it, they would instead try go the (shudder) Orange Man Bad route

who freaking knew that a millionaire white man in the republican party - freaking President - would have the weight of the judicial sector to protect him???

(Also a hypothetical new party could still work with Pelosi. like it happens on every other country except america, different parties collaborate and draft joint policy when they align on certain issues)

and Ben demanding that the government.... governs... is exactly avoiding the big dady state problem. demanding accountability is democratic? ish? my problem is not that people are different, but that the american system (specifically) is open and brazenly rigged. and the two parties that have been in power - for what? over a century? - have been directly a part of that rigged system. and also that even though I could see Bernie's point that he would rather break it from within, looking at what's happening in these primaries is making me seriously doubt that it would ever be possible
