Half Life 3 - Delirious Biznasty - 08-26-2017

is likely not coming out, the NDA expired and an ex-writer released a plot summary

apparently, there was so many creative differences that the project never got off it's feet

rip half-life series

I disagree with Grue, episode 3 was definitely going to be Half Life 3 in my opinion

I saying on discord that the universe is very fresh on my mind bc I bought the valve bundle (every single game for $20 btw I do own CS:GO now, doubt I'll ever install it) and I played all the half-life games + portal

it's a bummer but at the same time there is so much in those games that is dated

for example portal has a loading screen between every single puzzle cmon valve it's not that deep (it's an amazing game though)

Which is weird, since half life 2 didn't have loading screens sans the slight loading between areas

episode 3 was scrapped before any writing took place i believe and was going to be half life 3 from nearly the beginning of the development once they realized the scope that would be needed
considering the locations and technical aspects implied by the description i think it's safe to say this was intended to become half life 3. that was far too much for a few hour episodic style game

i am very, very sad about this and i honestly wish that valve would come out and say "we are not intending to continue the half life series"
at this point continuing to say nothing is just not acting in good faith on valves part and it's really shitty to the people that helped them build their company and steam by extension.

RE: Half Life 3 - Gorilla Tits - 08-27-2017

They should give it to Obsidian and let them make an RPG out of it

RE: Half Life 3 - Urser - 08-29-2017

they should give it to bioware and let me romance kleiner

RE: Half Life 3 - Delirious Biznasty - 08-29-2017

all great ideas, you're sending these to gabe right?

The great thing about HL3 would be merging the story elements and technologies of Aperture and Black Mesa. Shooting aliens through portals and shit. Portal 2 was an amazing game and Valve proved that they can fund a cool thing when they want to. Honestly don't understand why they dropped the franchise since I'm sure it's easy money, maybe shit overstretched, maybe they just don't have the resources. Maybe they don't fucking care. But I doubt it. Portal 2 and HL2 were goldmines of merch and publicity. Everything Gordon Freeman is iconic and sells itself. It's the kinda shit that Nintendo gets, at least, that you can carry a franchise on fandoms alone.

Weird stuff, huh.
