Whatcha watchin? - K-Man - 08-30-2016

Hello friends, Keith here. Ever since i sold my soul to Roku, I've become a born-again avid television viewer. I abandoned cable over a decade ago because A) its stupid expensive and B) commercials make me want to vomit while wearing a space helmet

BUT!

Since the advent of online streaming, I once again find myself thoroughly enjoying television shows, for hours on end in perfect serial order :)

Now that I've given you my goddamn life story for no reason, let's cut to the chase m8:

WHATCHA WATCHIN?

Allow me to start:
  • Difficult People - Really funny show, season 2 so far is even better than the first. It's only on Hulu, and it's totally worth watching.
  • Curb Your Enthusiasm - For some reason I've never really watched the latter seasons of this show, so I've been catching up on seasons 6-8. Larry David is so brilliant it makes me sick, these ridiculous plots he makes for himself are pure genius and hysterical. Season 7 ends with them shooting a Seinfeld reunion show (!!!!!!)
  • Rick and Morty - I never gave this show an honest chance in the past, but boy oh boy am I glad that's no longer the case!! This is, like, the best cartoon I've seen in forever. I not only watched both seasons in their entirety, but have watched every episode at LEAST 2 times each. On the second go, I caught jokes I missed the first time (usually from laughing out loudly). Love this show inside and out.

So yeah, that's what I've been watching. How bout you?

Kramer

Broadchurch - Pretty funny to see former Dr. Who as an emo detective but the plot gets pretty dumb sometimes many times

Bojack Horseman - One of the few cartoons where the main character's terrible actions actually have consequences and shit gets too real

spoilers!!!

RE: Whatcha watchin? - Ben - 09-01-2016

i obtained legally (lol u guys recognize this joke??) a very long time ago all of the justice league/justice league unlimited episodes from the 00s and have been going through them

for the sake of being compelling, often someone is missing from the team. they got invaded by some aliens that superman would have destroyed in an instant, but he was conveniently not included in the episode. this bothers me (im autistic, its a kids show, i know) but otherwise its really great

i also want to rewatch twin peaks soon

RE: Whatcha watchin? - K-Man - 09-02-2016

I keep meaning to watch Twin Peaks, never gave it a chance before. But all the feedback I've heard about it has been positive, so

and I really, really want to like Bojack Horseman. Saw the first couple episodes a while back but it didn't really catch my interest. Might be time to give it another shot

RE: Whatcha watchin? - Tyler_Legrand - 09-02-2016

I did remember the early episodes to be a bit of a drag but I'm happy I stuck with it

Wow, there's a huge difference in reviews between season 1 and the others! Check it out!

MOTHER. FUCKING. NARCOS. SEASON. TWO.

RE: Whatcha watchin? - GeorgeBubbinzInSpace - 09-09-2016

The other day I watched The Nice Guys with russel crowe and ryan gosling. it was pretty okay. kind of grew on me a little after I watched it but I still think it's a ltitle overrated. think if wes anderson made a cross between lethal weapon and the three stooges.

RE: Whatcha watchin? - K-Man - 10-25-2016

Hey, been a while since I updated this. Being a restaurant manager has been kicking my balls in so I havent been posting much, but there's been plenty of shows being watched during my after-work relaxing time!
  • SHAMELESS!!! - Hands down one of my favorite series right now. I love those fuckin' Gallaghers (and the Kev & V scenes are so good that they could be their own show), so I re-watched seasons 3-6 to prep up for Season 7, which has so far been a little different but very good! This show is superb, I recommend you all give it a chance. Pure writing/acting brilliance with tons of the debauchery, these are truly a group of shameless people.
  • American Horror Story (seasons 4 & 5) - Last year I watched season 3 (Coven) and loved it, but as a godless witch perhaps I am biased. Never got around to Freakshow, but watched the Motel season a couple weeks ago and really, really enjoyed it. Lady Gaga is a surprisingly wonderful actress and the whole season is very well executed, had a nice 'The Shining' feel to it. James Patrick March is instantly one of my favorite fictional characters. This prompted me to go back and watch the Freakshow season, which was really well made as well! That season finale had so many 'holy shit!' moments and had me on the edge of my seat, really good stuff.
  • Stranger Things - This show is so effing good that I watched the entire debut season in 1 day, I just couldn't stop. It's so so so so good, as I'm sure most of you already know. It lives up to, nay, EXCEEDS the hype its been getting. If you haven't seen it yet, stop depriving yourself of this masterpiece of a show and give it a watch.

how about that black mirror

1. Utopia - A british series that is unfortunately out of production at the moment, but still very worth giving a go. If you like world scale conspiracies, medical experiments a la MKultra and uninhibited violence, this is for you. I should also add that Utopia has one of the best soundtracks ever for a TV show. Friendly advice - if you like it, pretend the second season doesn't exist.

2. Channel zero - I'm not sure if I want to give this one a full on recommendation because it's only just starting out, but I'm curious what people will think about it. The selling point for me was that Channel Zero is 100% creepypasta inspired. The first season is based on Candle Cove and the second one will be No end house (or whatever the fuck it's called). It makes me sad that the horror genre is such shit most of the time, but hey, maybe this show will be the Messiah.

RE: Whatcha watchin? - Gorilla Tits - 10-27-2016

I'm only really watching canucks hockey right now. I don't know, I can't really get into shows anymore it seems. Probably because I live alone have no girlfriend and would rather play civilisation 6.

RE: Whatcha watchin? - fat lesbian - 10-27-2016

haha i forgot about the canucks this year

RE: Whatcha watchin? - Gorilla Tits - 10-27-2016

They aren't looking good right now that's for sure.
