No Man's Sky - GeorgeBubbinzInSpace - 04-24-2016

So this games comin' out called No Man's Sky that I think looks really cool and stuff. I've bought into the hype so much that I actually preordered it on steam.

Essentially it is an MMO and you are spaceman travelling to a near infinite amount of planets, collecting and trading and potentially making enemies (though it isn't recommended, because killing creatures and disturbing the planets natural state too much will generate 'sentinals' that come after you just like the GTA system with police.) What's really cool about it is how massive it really is. The developer thinks there will probably be planets that will never even be discovered because the universe is so large. You can name things if you're the first to discover them, and they will stay named, such as plants and animals and what not. Here's some footage and gameplay.

i'm still hopeful for it, but to call it an MMO isn't really true. it really seems like the developers just didn't want to make a multiplayer game, but maybe Sony pressured them into doing so.

it's not on a single server, it works off a lobby system, and everyone starts in a random part of the universe with no way to meet up with people, so it's unlikely you'll ever run into another player. I was really looking forward to the multiplayer aspect back when they were claiming it would have one, so some of the fire has died for me, but it could still be cool.

yeah I can see how that might have killed it a little for some people. honestly though unless its a team oriented game I like playing online games alone and just running into random people and talking to them if they aren't spamming jon cena memes on the mic. like the survival servers on h1z1 for example. I really liked playing alone and running into cool people

this game sort of offers that but also it would be even more of a pleasant surprise, people might be less likely to rape you because of that. I don't know we'll see. have you heard anything about what happens when you die? do you lose loot? I know you respawn in like a base that you were last near...or something. but can a player kill another player?

Hey... This could potentially make for a fun "find your friend" game... You try and find a galaxy you both discovered so you can find each other

RE: No Man's Sky - Urser - 04-24-2016

>play game for about a week
>explore a dozen or so planets
>realise you're not having fun
>never touch it again

tyler there's over 12 billion planets in the game.

RE: No Man's Sky - GeorgeBubbinzInSpace - 04-24-2016

12 billion 12 shmillion. all you need is a server with like 100,000,000 people in it and you'll probably run into someone.

I love how desperate outlets are for news on this game.
