He created a webcomic that was doing extremely well, then decided to listen to a small minority of the fanbase which caused the quality to decline drastically. Then, he decided this was a good time to start a kick-starter to fund a video game version of the comic, dedicating his time on that instead, putting the comic on hiatus after the kick starter accumulated well over 2 million. From there, he outsourced it to The Odd Gentlemen so they could help create the video game. The Odd Gentlemen decided to then take the money and jump ship, using the funds to create a Kings Quest remake. He couldn't sue them, because they're owned by Activision and he would be going through legal and financial hell to get that money back, so he essentially had to start from scratch, with no money, not to mention the comic was still on hiatus. By this point, Undertale was released and Steven Universe was popular, so the minority that he was appealing to jumped ship to those fanbases, leaving him with no game, no web comic and now, no fans. So, he finally rushes out the ending to the comic two years ago and it was the worst fucking attempt at an ending I think I have unironically seen in any piece of entertainment.
He deserves this because he threw his fans under the bus, he tried creating a game when he hadn't even finished the convoluted fucking MESS that was his webcomic, he tried creating the game with a KICK STARTER while promising a billion fucking things to backers, he tried to have a different company make his game and lost all the backers money, he tried to cover the whole thing up from the backers and the end product was absolute disappointment.
