(06-17-2016, 10:57 PM)Ben Wrote: pls make a gun control general thread instead of derailing this one

seeing as both candidates are going balls through the wall with it, isn't it relevant?

nevermind, I just won't discuss the election anymore

RE: us election thread - Ben - 06-17-2016

ok fun fact: i never wanted this thread to be about political opinions, but the other thread for that was off to a really bad start. the point was for this thread to be about the process and some meta-analysis but the other thread went to the dump

i dont have any real political opinions, so it would serve this thread and the forum as a whole right if ppl with a real sincere interest in something political took it upon themselves to keep that separation instead of having 3 megathreads that people post in for the whole forum and instead encouraging more various instruction

RE: us election thread - Ben - 06-17-2016

so yes it is relevant however this isnt the place for it and if you take that request as a "get every opinion of the election you have out of everywhere altogether" then that's your own misreading

RE: us election thread - Ben - 06-17-2016

if you wanted to talk about how their stance on gun issues affects the prospect of their election, or how that in general will impact a candidate's platform, this would be a good thread

stating what you believe on an issue would make for a really good thread on its own and id like to encourage that. when i said please make a new thread i wasnt saying GO AWAY YOU ARE HURTING THE THREAD i was saying "wow you have the basis for a good thread here and not only would it help to make one, it could maintain the composure of this thread as well"

RE: us election thread - grue - 06-18-2016

I don't think anyone else is nearly as interested in that meta discussion as you are, ben

I don't mind thread discussions to evolve into something else just as long as it isn't forced or silencing the main thread topic

RE: us election thread - Ben - 06-18-2016

a man can dream

(but really i want more threads make more threads why not have 2 threads if we CAN have 2 threads)

RE: us election thread - exetra - 06-18-2016

no lets just post in this thread

how good is perth??

RE: us election thread - GSOM - 07-21-2016

I've not been entirely sold on the validity of usuncut as a news source this primary season, but I found this to be interesting. Jill Stein shared it on her Facebook a few days back(FWIW).

I'm not sure what this adds to the discussion, necessarily, but it's a trend I'd like to see continue. I'd think it'd spook the fuck out of the DNC if a large portion of young and independent voters flock to a Green Party and/or Libertarian candidate. I'm a fan of this whole "voting with your conscience" thing. I disagree immensely with Gary Johnson on fiscal shit, but he's honest, sane. I'll probably vote for whomever out of Johnson/Stein ends up picking up momentum.

It'll take polling at 15% in a few major polls for Johnson and Stein to get into the debates with Clinton and Trump. Here's to hoping. Johnson at the moment is polling on average between like 8-13%. Stein is a little lower but has been an option in very few major polls. It's for the best that these two get a shot. Pick one, stick to it, vote for 'em. My two cents. Maybe it'll cause a ruckus. Maybe it'll get Trump elected. Who gives a shit? Shake it up.

Here's the fucking Libertarian equivalent of usuncut pumping Johnson's poll numbers.

RE: us election thread - fat lesbian - 07-21-2016

what would really spook the fuck out of them is seizing the means of production and violent revolution instead of just a slightly unexpected version of playing within their rules, but hey

also all the republicans got the shits. i love it

RE: us election thread - GSOM - 07-21-2016

Yes, that is realistic.

RE: us election thread - GSOM - 07-21-2016

Presidential candidates, in my view, do well to change the direction of the discussion for average folks. I just wholeheartedly believe that having Johnson and Stein on a major debate stage with a couple of crooks would do some good.
In the long run, it's no revolution, but it's a fucking start. People need to see options and sanity in our political discussion. Neither of them will win and the outcome of our presidential election means very little for the average person. It's more about the later on. When folks might get out and organize after feeling like they have an option.

And for fun :

RE: us election thread - fat lesbian - 07-21-2016

yep it is completely realistic if you fucking morons stopped trying to be like "everyone vote!!! it helps :)" and told people what their actual options are

RE: us election thread - fat lesbian - 07-21-2016

voting helps, would you like to aid in the death of the poor today or tomorrow? 99 dead children or 100? a continued state funded genocide in palestine that we're quiet about or open about? the choice is yours!

RE: us election thread - fat lesbian - 07-21-2016

four hundred and ten billion seven hundred and fifty seven million eight hundred and sixty four thousand five hundred and thirty dead cops come get me feds

RE: us election thread - Ben - 07-21-2016

i agree with everything said GSOM but on top of that, gary at very least knows well that even just giving ideas/spreading ideas could make them more mainstream and likely to catch on. even if you are terrified your own two-party boogeyman and are determined to get the other elected, it should be important to get the littler guys in to say their piece
