honestly it's the fault of the DNC, pushing for a candidate who was the establishment safe choice over the one that actually got our generation excited for a change. after pushing bernie out, many didn't feel represented anymore and were apathetic to either choice, preferring to vote 3rd party or abstain from voting at all
and the people who supported trump, the racist, bigoted, misogynist, greedy and vile people who will now feel justified in their beliefs against other people because the candidate they supported is now the president. there's fucking klansmen marching on bridges.
a lot of things are going to change. a lot of bad things, short term, like the removal of obamacare, possibly the deportation of hundreds of thousands, possibly the enforcement of inversion therepy, possibly the prosecution of any women having abortions, possibly the biggest economic slump in decades. but, i have to have hope that as we push through this shit, we can rebuild a party base that will better represent our generation and future generations, and hopefully (though this is a morbid thought) a lot of those old white boomer voters will just up and die already.
