grue there is a strong possibility a man will get elected who can nuke brazil off the planet. he can do this. the president has ultimate authority over the nuclear triad and can fire anyone who attempts to stop him on the spot without reason. that's p important

RE: us election thread - GeorgeBubbinzInSpace - 05-13-2016

no one is going to nuke brazil off the planet. there are too many young supple 8 year olds being sold by their families. rich politicians love that sort of thing.

RE: us election thread - fat lesbian - 05-13-2016

that's true who else but south america is gonna supply the trumpinator with all that coke

RE: us election thread - Delirious Biznasty - 05-13-2016

Edit: this was kind of derailing so I'll clarify

the US elections are surely important because the figurehead in america tends to operate under a certain political aesthetic - Obama, Bush and Clinton (speaking of presidencies I was conscious about) each stand more for a way of running things than an actual politicla agenda, the way things seem to work over there

it's fine and interesting and for me the aesthetic of an old jewish social-democrat affects very relevantly american foreign relations in contrast to an angry golden cradle idiot with a bad hairstyle. "Bush" america was very different from "Obama" america and that is what is important to me here

but in terms of structural effects, the current impeachment of Brazil's president and the massive curruption breakdown undergoing there - with dangerous implications on all accounts, from military dictatorship supporters to cartel-financed moguls and a rising strife nationwide - could have brutal implications for the world economy (Brazil is stupid rich and influential)

and siding next to that, american political aesthetics kinda pale in relevance to me

in my mind it means more due to how iconic the figurehead of the united states is vs brazil- i happen to know a little bit about the brazil thing because i check up on world news superficially, but EVERYONE knows about donny trump and has their own take or story

well actually- the most salient thing to me is the history of the US vs brazil. the US doesn't really have many major disruptions or incidents compared to a lot of south american countries (i had an extensive course on this in high school but the information is leaving me so forgive inaccuracy) where there is a constant cycle of military dictatorships and people's republics (as i think was the case with chile, cuba, and brazil) and also some power changing among family (mexico and argentina?). in the US, presidents will sometimes get shot but otherwise remain. the only exception was nixon who resigned and almost bill i guess

contention with the president breeds interesting drama considering they are not only the symbol of the country but they are carrying the flag for their party. who carries the flag and where is interesting to me due to the US' comparative stability- that someone is being taken out again in south america is more extreme than what trump or bernie are doing, but it is comparatively normal

RE: us election thread - Ben - 05-13-2016

also pls keep it about the formal politics and not the ppl. that isnt what this thread is about. if you want to talk about what the people believe then make your own thread pls

RE: us election thread - Ben - 05-13-2016

Exactly. Latin and South America have always been a hotbed for coups and crisis. This is just another south american country with its typical bullshit. But if grue is right, do you think its the united states business to interfere? Seeing as they ARE the world police and all.

RE: us election thread - grue - 05-13-2016

Has Brazil ever been as powerful as it is right now, though? Because yeah welcome to South American politics - except Brazil isn't Venezuela. Venezuela is gone to shit but I don't except to feel the ripples of its fall, outside of the few people I know living there being affected.

As for the US interfering, if it comes down to that I don't see how not. Honestly if times are that the US need strong foreign affairs politics, isn't Clinton actually the best of all candidates? She actually has experience on that field anyway.

RE: us election thread - Delirious Biznasty - 05-13-2016

has ANY country been as powerful in its current state?

RE: us election thread - Delirious Biznasty - 05-18-2016

So how do you think the FBI's ruling is going to be involved in the election? do you think it will change anything?

In other news, Mitt Romney is saying he will be the head of the committee to deny Donald Trump the GOP. Do you think this will have an affect on Trump or do you think it will blow over?

I really hope the ruling does something before sanders drops out. It would show that you don't need to rely on the corrupt standings of the two party political system and you don't need billionaires backing up your campaign.

I think that's a load of shit with Romney, who the hell even cares about someone who lost the election? Hopefully the backlash from all this damage control will make the part collapse even faster. These two incidents, I believe, would mark the end of the two party system.

Do you guys think there is even a slight chance of this happening? Or do you think I am an idiot? If so, please tell me why.

RE: us election thread - grue - 05-18-2016

Can you show me thee FBI ruling? I'm out of the loop and google isn't being helpful

RE: us election thread - Delirious Biznasty - 05-18-2016

There isn't any currently, but either way it will probably have an extreme pr boost for her or a horrible impact

RE: us election thread - grue - 05-18-2016

so the possible outcomes are: she's cleared and wins the primaries by a bigger advantage than she would otherwise, possibly cruising her way into presidency; OR she's ruled guilty as charged, wins the primaries anyway because bernie never stood a chance, but may be stump'd by the trump
